Transforming visual input into a seamlessly orchestrated path that feels intentionally curated.
To help users find products even when they don’t have the right words to describe them, I designed an image search experience. Inspired by real‑world moments when shoppers see something they love and want it instantly, the feature uses visual recognition to interpret uploaded photos and surface relevant matches. By blending intuitive UX with intelligent similarity modeling, the experience creates a seamless, inspiration‑to‑discovery path that feels both natural and delightfully human.

In the absence of integrated image search on the website, Aritzia shoppers are resorting to external communities like Reddit to help identify products—highlighting a clear opportunity to bring this workflow back into the brand ecosystem.
The detection itself is invisible, but the way we represent it in the UI communicates whether the system understands the user’s intent and can guide them to the right product.
A Branded Approach to Image‑Driven Styling
Image‑led search becomes a moment to reinforce brand authority. With precise merchandise tagging, each image transforms into a curated styling touchpoint—guiding users to explore individual pieces through the lens of Aritzia’s fashion expertise.
A single image can spark intent—my job is to turn it into discovery.
My design approach centers on supporting and amplifying the user’s natural behavior. In this case, the user is already leaning into image‑based shopping. The opportunity is to extend that momentum: how might we create additional, visually driven discovery pathways that build on the intuitive act of shopping from an image and guide the user toward products they’ll love?
